Academician Fortunato T. de la Peña presented PAGTANAW 2050 at the 87th Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE) National Convention – College of Fellows General Assembly on September 16, 2026, at the Hotel Supreme Mall and Events Center in Baguio City.
Academician de la Peña highlighted how the document responds to global megatrends—such as climate-induced poverty and technological inequality—while aligning with AmBisyon Natin 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals toward the vision of a Prosperous, Archipelagic, Maritime Nation by 2050.
Additionally, he discussed NAST PHL’s ongoing efforts to update the ST&I Foresight document and called on chemical engineers to lend sector-specific expertise in sustainable manufacturing and energy.
The engagement deepened awareness of PAGTANAW 2050 among chemical engineering leaders, underscoring the vital role of professional organizations in driving the nation’s long-term ST&I priorities.
