IN PHOTOS | Academician Fortunato T. de la Peña, Academician-in-charge in the Updating of PAGTANAW 2050, delivered a keynote address at the “INTERFACE 2026: A Joint Academe-Industry Failure Analysis Symposium” held on 5 June 2026 at the University of the Philippines Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (DMMME). The event marked a significant milestone for the department’s Failure Analysis Hub, bringing together various participants and experts from the industry, academe, and the government.
In his speech, Acd. de la Peña identified Science Education and Talent Retention as one of PAGTANAW 2050’s key operational areas that prove crucial to the actualization of a national vision for Failure Analysis and advanced materials science. Ultimately, he called on policymakers to partner in this endeavor through legislation that positions science, technology, and innovation as drivers of national development.
