International Benchmarking Activity in Australia

To support the adoption of an effective national strategy, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) recently completed an International Benchmarking Activity in Australia on November 3-9, 2025. The mission was focused on studying and adopting the Australian model for Science, Technology, and Innovation (ST&I) Foresight.
The benchmarking initiative provided an in-depth look at how the Australian science, technology, and innovation ecosystem embeds foresight into national planning, demonstrating how long-term evidence, expert engagement, and institutional stability work together to drive resilient and future-ready policymaking.
The delegation conducted benchmarking visits and dialogues with leading Australian institutions such as Australian Academy of Science (AAS), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Long-Term Insight under the the Department of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, Productivity Commission (PC), Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Australian National University (ANU), National Security College Futures Hub, Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS), and University of Wollongong’s Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS).
