IN PHOTOS | In partnership with the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhilAAST), the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) held its first hybrid Roundtable Discussion (RTD) on the “Insights from the Industry: A Roundtable Discussion for the External Review of PAGTANAW 2050” last October 14, 2025 at the Learning Commons, UP Diliman.
The activity gathered experts and leaders from various industry sectors to share their insights and recommendations for updating PAGTANAW 2050, the country’s science, technology, and innovation (ST&I) foresight document. Discussions centered on identifying additional issues and concerns that need to be addressed, examining potential risks and uncertainties, and generating evidence-based insights to guide the document’s enhancement and updating process.
NAST PHL President Academician Jaime C. Montoya and PhilAAST President Academician Fortunato T. de la Peña opened the event, which featured presentations and discussions led by Engr. Dante Briones, Maj. Gen. Elmir Dela Cruz (Ret.), and Engr. Nicanor Villaseñor III, along with reactors from key industries.
This RTD marks the first in a series of industry-focused consultations that will help shape a prosperous, archipelagic, and maritime nation through science, technology, and innovation.
